Despite many advantages of BrushLess DC motor, torque pulsation is one of the most important disadvantages of it. At first, an optimum primary design of BLDC motor is done using PSO algorithm. Then, other parameters for reducing the torque pulsation are considered by finite element method. It is shown that fractional slot structure has many advantages than conventional one. Both cogging and rip...

Control methods for pulsation of torque reduction for the surface-mounted permanent magnet motors are discussed in the paper. The pulsation torque is a consequence of the non-sinusoidal flux distribution and due to interaction of the rotor’s permanent magnets with the changing stator reluctance. Proposed control method is estimator based. To assure parameter convergence Lyapunov’s direct method...

In the present work, an integrated method of pole shape design optimization for reduction of torque pulsation components in permanent magnet synchronous motors is developed. A progressive design process is presented to find feasible optimal shapes. This method is applied on the pole shape optimization of two prototype permanent magnet synchronous motors, i.e., 4-poles/6-slots and 4-poles-12slots.

This paper presents the analysis, design and implementation of cost effective sensorless control scheme of Brushless DC Motors (BLDCM). There are several methods proposed in BLDC motor drives to obtain optimum current and torque control with minimum torque pulsation. But while coming to industrial applications, BLDC motor voltage contains harmonics which are caused because of high speed switchi...

The unbalanced voltages cause negative effects on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) such as torque pulsation and increased stator current. Based on the symmetrical component theory, the torque pulsation is the consequence of the interaction of stator and rotor currents of different sequences. This paper presents a control technique to reduce the effect of unbalanced voltages on the DFIG...

nowadays the use of the switched reluctance motors (srms) has been considerably increased in various home and industrial applications. despite of many advantages of this type of motors, such as simple structure, low cost, and high reliability, the main disadvantage of them is the generation of high torque pulsation. this paper presents a novel method to optimize a typical srm such that the torq...

This paper addresses the problem of energy-efficient power assist control for quasiperiodic motions. The simplest assist method would be to apply additional torque in proportion to the instantaneous value of torque generated by a user. In our previous study, it was shown that energy efficiency improves by flattening the torque pattern. To cope with the frequency fluctuation of our motion, we in...

Abstract-Voltage sag or unbalance conditions at the input rectifier stage of the ac-dc-ac rectifier-inverter induction motor drive can cause the significant amounts of harmonic voltage at twice the line frequency 2f1. This voltage ripple can have a degrading effect on the induction-machine performance characteristics. This paper presents an analytical closed-form mathematical model and analysis...
